This art activity is a fun way to extend children's understanding of the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
Ages: 18M+
Development Focus: Sensorial development, fine motor skills, cognitive development, nature
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a staple in our Little Bookworms classes!
We love books and cannot emphasise enough the importance of reading to your little ones!
Reading to your children helps them understand sounds, words and language. It helps them develop early literacy skills, communication and language skills. Reading to your children helps them learn to value books and stories and it sparks and stimulates their imagination and curiosity.
We confess - we love books!
For this activity, you will need paint (green, blue & red colours), paint brushes, a black marker and paper.
Read the Hungry Caterpillar Book (or watch this read along video). Once you have completed the book, make a hungry caterpillar with your child using finger paints and creativity!
Be sure to include questions and observations about the caterpillar turning into a butterfly!
